A science driven research organisation

Science is at the heart of what we do. Our aim is to have a major impact on the global practice of medicine and improve the health of all people. We will do this through the excellent management of clinical trials for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device customers.

Through our peer-to-peer network, we have unique access to the leading medical and academic researchers around the world. This network will help ensure that every clinical study reflects current best practice.

Best of both worlds

We combine the best of both worlds because we are able to combine the latest scientific insights with operational expertise to find creative & cost effective solutions to the many challenges of modern clinical research. We achieve this by bringing together academic knowledge, operational excellence, process development and embracing the innovation required to develop new insights in medical care. We are science driven, outcome focused, agile & flexible and we work as partners.

Agile in organisation and execution

We are big enough to do global trials & agile enough to fit the needs of your trial. Because of our size, we are able to respond rapidly to project challenges.  We also have the capacity and capability to conduct complex global studies without the huge infrastructure overhead of larger organisations.

Work as Partners

We aim to work in partnership with our biopharmaceutical clients, our scientists and our operational experts on a science based solution. This means protocols are conducted according the best medical practice, leading to greater investigators engagement and enhancing their participation and subsequent patient recruitment.

Outcome focused

Julius Clinical has all the staff and systems in place to effectively manage any biopharmaceutical, whether it is a small national trial or a large and complex global pivotal study. Julius Clinical can quickly perform feasibility studies in a wide range of settings and therapeutic areas, making use of its international network of thought leaders and investigators. This network sets Julius Clinical apart from other organisations and is based on our academic roots. Through these networks, and peer-to-peer discussions, the scientific team can inspire and motivate investigators to take part.

Our History

Utrecht, The Netherlands, 2008

Julius Clinical is a science driven research organization that was established in 2008 as a spin-off from the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care at the University Medical Center (UMC) in Utrecht, which is the largest medical centre in the Netherlands. Julius Clinical combines strong scientific leadership and operational excellence to conduct innovative national and global clinical trials.

Julius Clinical is a spin-off of the UMCU Clinical Trial Unit, previously part of the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care. The Julius Center was itself founded in 1996, after the merger of the UMC’s departments of Epidemiology and Public Health with Clinical Epidemiology. Overall, the center contains a wealth of expertise in the disciplines of epidemiology, public health, general practice, biostatistics, and medical technology assessment.

Since its establishment, the Julius Center has been actively involved in the design, conduct, and reporting of groundbreaking phase IIB-IV clinical trials in Europe, in the fields of cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, oncology, genetics, and mental health.
